Louvanes : structure en intestins tréssé, intestins teintés avec de la racine de garance et de l'encre de seiche, c. 200 x 130 x 110 cm “Thibault Philip breathes new life into leftover intestines—which are typically used in industrial sausage production—by transforming them into luminous objects. He fully explores the possibilities of this material and favors a slow, meticulous manufacturing process to create works of fragile appearance using woven intestine threads and colored intestine skins. In doing so, he draws inspiration from ancient and forgotten crafts, such as those of Inuit and sub-Saharan communities. His work also evokes stained glass or a bird’s nest. Dyed with cuttlefish ink and madder, this luminous sculpture emits a soft, warm glow.”
